Spring Fling 2018
Thank you to all that attended this year’s Spring Fling! This year’s event was our most successful to date. This year’s theme was Trailways and we were honored to have Jonathan Berzas, Eva Hotard, Tracey Simmons and Sabina Dhami from Trailways present for both Friday and Saturday’s events. Also a thanks to the Trailways companies who brought coaches to the event: Fullington Tours and Bailey Coach. Larry Yohe also came with his 1971 Continental Trailways Eagle Model 05.
The weekend started off Friday night with a dinner in the rotunda of the Museum. Over 100 bus enthusiasts came together to enjoy each other’s company for the evening. The fabulous meal was catered by Dafnos. The Saturday event was highlighted with the nearly 40 visiting buses in all categories (historic, school and
conversion). Also new for this year, the VIP package was enjoyed by nearly 45 guests. The guests were able to view a presentation by Museum Secretary, David Millhouser and Assistant Curator, Angel Tollens on the Eagle Coach from Belgium to Brownsville. After the presentation, guests were taken down to our 1971 Continental Trailways Golden Eagle for a tour and also were able to view the Museum’s other Trailways buses on display out front. In addition to a Museum souvenir sticker, the guests were able to ride in either the Forrest Gump or Speed buses in the Parade of Buses.
Guests were treated to all of the great bus memorabilia offered by our vendors. In addition, we welcomed several other Museums. We had the pleasure of hosting: Jon Beckstrom from the Greyhound Museum, Stan Holter from the Bus Boys,Charles Williams from the Pacific Bus Museum and Fred Donaher from the Commonwealth Coach and Trolley Museum on our vendor floor. Also, our continued supporters, Friends of the New Jersey Heritage Transportation Center brought eight of their buses to the event.
Four trophies were awarded at the event. Congratulations to our 2018 Spring Fling trophy winners:
- Classic/Historic: 1953 GM TDM-4512/Friends of the New Jersey Transportation Heritage Center.
- School: 1988 Crown Supercoach (Katrina Falk Nelson).
- Conversion:2001 Prevost XLII (Mike Middaugh/Coach Quarters).

In addition we raffled off a large bus model which was won by Brendan Stanczyk. Our 50/50 raffle was won by Museum Vice Chair Mark Szyperski who donated his winnings back to the Museum.
The day came to an end with our 2nd Annual Parade of Buses. Our visiting enthusiasts were able to showcase their buses with a trip around the Museum and a stop in the front of the Museum for photo opportunities.
